About Maius, getting started at school, AI pre-analysis, privacy and logging in.
Maius is an online learning goal tracking system for schools. It connects the curriculum (learning goals), the projects, the evidence students provide and the assessment by teachers. This way students, teachers and school leaders can see per learning goal what a student has mastered and what not yet.
Mainly for secondary schools that work with projects, personal learning plans or tailor-made education, for a single subject (for example computer science) or for the whole curriculum. Universities of applied sciences have also used Maius to map their educational offering.
A student tracking system usually follows students with tests for a few core subjects. A portfolio collects work and reflections. Maius links those parts together: every project is tied to learning goals, the student provides evidence for a learning goal or for the project as a whole, and the teacher assesses per learning goal. Progress and progression follow from that.
If the evidence is attached to the project, Maius can work out which learning goals it contributes to and by how much. One report can thus be evidence for several learning goals. For this there is an AI pre-analysis: Claude analyses the evidence, the teacher assesses.
No. Maius was developed for project-based education, but you can also link books, lessons and modules to learning goals. Many schools combine projects with classroom lessons.
Core goals, the exam programme or the school's own learning goals. They are organised in domains and learning goal maps, with steps per level. Each project can also get its own learning goals for the phases of design thinking.
We start with an introduction and a demo. Then we set up the learning goals, projects and groups together. You can start small, for example with one department or one year group, and expand afterwards. See also our offering.
That depends on what you need: the software, coaching for the team, or both. Get in touch for the options and costs for your school.
Students and groups can be imported in one go from an Excel file. Logging in is possible with your own password or with the school account via SURFconext, Microsoft or Google.
Yes. The Maius team helps with setting up learning goals and projects and can guide teachers in project-based education, coaching-style teaching and inquiry-based learning.
Students have a dashboard with their progress per domain and per project. Teachers see per group, project or learning plan who has new feedback and how far students are. In addition there are reports per student, group, learning goal and learning plan, to view or print.
A teacher selects students and learning goals and supplies the evidence, or uses the evidence the student has already submitted. Claude, Anthropic's AI model, makes a pre-analysis per learning goal: what can be seen in the evidence and what is still missing. Claude does not assess. The teacher reviews the analysis, chooses the judgement themselves and edits or discards the feedback. Only when the teacher releases it does anything reach the student.
The learning goals, the project description, any comment from the teacher and the evidence (files and the student's reflection). The student is identified only by a pseudonym, not by name. Note: files may themselves contain a name or other data. More about this is in the privacy statement.
No. The function only works if a teacher or teaching team enters an API key themselves, and it is only used when the teacher starts a pre-analysis. The cost of use is borne by the owner of the key.
Always the teacher. Claude's analysis is an aid, not a judgement and not a grade. The teacher chooses the judgement themselves; what Claude suggests is never adopted automatically. Maius stores Claude's original text separately and records what the teacher chooses, so it stays visible what the teacher changed.
We only process data that is needed for education and do not share data with commercial parties. Read the full privacy statement.
Maius runs on servers in the Netherlands, at a hosting partner with ISO 27001 certification for information security. Only if a teacher starts a pre-analysis with AI do learning goals and evidence (with pseudonym) go to Anthropic; see the privacy statement.
The school. Maius processes the data on behalf of the school. Questions about your data are therefore best put to the school first.
Yes, for logging in and remembering settings. On the public pages (not after logging in) we use visitor statistics, but only if you give consent in the cookie notice. Exactly which cookies and services are used is described in the privacy statement.
Accounts are created by the school. Contact your school if you do not have an account yet.
If you log in with your own password, request a new password. If you log in with your school account (SURFconext, Microsoft or Google), the school manages your password.
Start at your own Signpost: there you see what's new from your teacher, what is almost achieved, and you can quickly go to your learning plan, projects and domains. On the dashboard you see your progress per domain and per project, your teachers' feedback and your own evidence.
You receive information about your child's progress via the school.
Feel free to ask it. We will respond as soon as possible.
